Dr. Mi Young Chung

Dr. Mi Young Chung is an accomplished and skilled dentist with over a decade of experience across a wide range of dental disciplines. Since August 2012, she has served as a trusted dental professional at Mi Young Chung DDS, Inc. in Anaheim, CA, where she has honed her expertise in all aspects of dentistry. Her extensive clinical background spans restorative dentistry, esthetic procedures, prosthetics, periodontics, implants, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, and orthodontics. Dr. Chung’s comprehensive approach to patient care and her dedication to the highest standards of treatment make her a valued practitioner in her field.

Her journey in dentistry began after earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry in June 2006. Prior to dental school, Dr. Chung earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from UCLA in 2002, where she consistently demonstrated academic excellence, earning multiple Dean’s Honor List distinctions throughout her dental education. Additionally, she spent time at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in Argentina, pursuing a Pre-Medicine major before relocating to the United States.

Throughout her career, Dr. Chung has demonstrated proficiency in performing a wide range of procedures. Her expertise includes restorative dentistry, such as amalgam and composite fillings, crowns, fixed bridges, and inlays/onlays. In esthetics, she provides advanced treatments, including porcelain veneers and zirconia crowns. Her skills in prosthodontics include removable full and partial dentures, implant-assisted overdentures, and occlusal appliances like night guards and sports guards.

Dr. Chung’s experience with dental implants is extensive. She is proficient in single and multiple unit implant fixture placements, immediate extraction and implant placement surgeries, sinus elevation procedures, bone grafting, and full-arch implant hybrid bridges. Dr. Chung is also experienced in pediatric dentistry, performing pulpotomies, space maintainers, and extractions, while utilizing tools such as nitrous oxide to ensure a comfortable environment for young patients.

Additionally, she has received certification in Straight Wire seminars and Clear Correct (Clear Aligner Therapy), enabling her to offer orthodontic treatments as part of her comprehensive service offerings.

Throughout her academic and professional career, Dr. Chung has received numerous accolades. During her time at UCLA, she was honored with several prestigious awards, including the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Award, the American College of Prosthodontics Award, and the Excellence in Operative Dentistry Award. She also received the Comprehensive Patient Care Award and was recognized with the “Best Hand Skills” Award by her class of 2006. Her commitment to excellence is further evidenced by her membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.

Dr. Chung’s academic achievements were complemented by professional recognitions, including 35-40 Exceptional Performance Reports (EPRs) earned at UCLA, which are awarded to the top 5-10% of students in the class. She was also named to the Dean’s Honor List multiple times during her dental education, underscoring her consistent dedication to excellence.

In addition to her clinical skills, Dr. Chung is deeply committed to professional development and continuing education. She is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA), and the Orange County Dental Society. She holds certifications as a provider of the DIO NAVI Implant System, has completed extensive training in implant dentistry through the Apsun Dental Implant Research & Education Center, and is a certified Clear Correct provider for Clear Aligner Therapy.
